Lawn Care Contract

Before we discuss lawn care contracts, please understand I am not an attorney, my advice should not be considered as legal advice.

I frequently get asked if having a lawn care contract is important, and my response is always the same..."it depends". If your goal is to eventually sell your lawn business, then getting your customer to sign a lawn care contract becomes a little more important. But I'm still not convinced they are neccessary.

The purpose of a lawn care contract is to "protect" both parties involved. Most people who start a lawn business believe the sole purpose of a lawn care contract is to protect their business. They tend to forget that the lawn care contract also exists to protect their client.

The first thing many lawn company owners tell prospects is that they will be required to sign a lawn care contract. I can't think of anything else that will scare off a prospect quicker. Put yourself in the prospects shoes...when a prospect hears they will have to sign a contract they hear, "I'll be forced to use your lawn company even if you provide horrible service."

I'm a firm believer in using a lawn care contract as a selling point for your lawn business. Here are a fews things I did to help convince prospects to use my lawn company.

Never mention your lawn care contact initially. - You don't want prospects to fear using your lawn business because of your lawn care contract. Once you have won the prospect over then mention your lawn care contract.

Put the power in their hands. - Give your prospects the power and to cancel your lawn care contract at any time they see fit.

Sell with your lawn care contract. - Tell your prospect that if they are not 100% satisfied then you don't want their business.

With careful consideration you can make your lawn care contract a valuable part of your lawn marketing. You can use my free lawn care contract to give you ideas and help structure your on own lawn care contract.
